During her official visit to China, the chief of French MFA, Catherine Colonna, called on the People's Republic of China not to assist Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine.

France urged China not to help the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine

France emphasizes once again that its cooperation with China is important for the promotion of a just and lasting peace, Colonna said.

She called on China to continue working on its peace proposal for Ukraine while guaranteeing that Chinese structures would not help the Russian Federation in the war.

We count on the vigilance of the Chinese authorities so that no structure in China, especially a private one, directly or indirectly contributes to Russia's illegal military actions in Ukraine, Colonna added.

Why Xi Jinping decided to support Biden's position

The Chinese and American presidents recently held a meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

Importantly, this was their first face-to-face meeting in a year and Xi's first visit to the US in four years.

According to the head of the White House, during the talks with the President of the People's Republic of China, they had time to discuss the issue of Russia's war against Ukraine and the situation in Gaza.

Many analysts assume that Biden managed to sway Xi to the side of the United States regarding supporting Ukraine and containing Russia.
