During the day, the Ukrainian military repelled numerous attacks by the criminal army of Russia on the left-bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region and in eastern Ukraine. The enemy suffered significant losses in manpower and military equipment.
What is known about successes of Ukrainian Armed Forces and consequences of Russia’s army attacks on Ukraine
It is noted that during the day, the Ukrainian military clashed 31 times with units of the Russian criminal army.
Despite significant losses, the enemy continues to wage an aggressive war, ignores the laws and customs of war, continues terror tactics, and attacks both military and civilian targets.
The enemy is actively using tactical aircraft and FPV drones, conducting assault operations with the support of armoured vehicles, and has increased the number of air strikes.
During the day, the AFU repelled 9 attempts by Russian occupiers to advance on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region and inflicted numerous losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy.
Over the course of the day, the Joint Forces aviation struck 10 places of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment and 3 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
The missile forces hit 2 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, 3 artillery positions, 5 ammunition depots and 2 other important enemy targets.
Meanwhile, on the night and morning of 29 December, the Russian occupiers launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure, military and civilian facilities.
The enemy used about 160 means of air attack against Ukraine: missiles of various types and attack UAVs.
88 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles and 27 "Shahed-136/131" attack UAVs were destroyed by the forces and means of air defence of Ukraine.
In total, 134 missile attacks and 60 air strikes were recorded over the day, as well as 36 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian infrastructure.
Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries.
Private houses, hospitals, and other civil and industrial infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.
What is known about situation in certain areas of front
In the Volyn and Poliske directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. There were no signs of the formation of offensive groups. Certain units of the Armed Forces of Belarus perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, the enemy maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts sabotage and intelligence activities, attacks populated areas from the territory of Russia, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine. More than 20 settlements, including Krasni Lozy, Zaliznyi Mist, and Bleshnya in the Chernihiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks; Stepok, Zapsilya, Basivka, Popivka of the Sumy region; Udy, Guriiv Kozachok, Krasne Pershe, Ambarne of the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupyan direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 enemy attacks in the area of Synkivka settlement of Kharkiv region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defence of our troops. The enemy also carried out an airstrike in the area of Ivanivka, the Kharkiv region. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka of the Kharkiv region.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Lyman direction. He carried out airstrikes in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, Serebryanske Forestry of Luhansk region and Terna, Serebryanka of Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar shelling, among them Nevske, Belohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Serebryanka, Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka of Donetsk region.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defence Forces repulsed an enemy attack in the Andriivka area of Donetsk region, where the enemy was trying to regain lost position. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, in particular, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, New York of Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 3 enemy attacks in the areas of Stepove, Avdiivka, and another 12 attacks in the areas of Pivniche, Pervomaiske, and Nevelsky of Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical position. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Oleksandropil and Novobakhmutivka settlements of Donetsk region. About 10 settlements, including Berdychi, Stepove, Avdiivka, Pivnichne, and Pervomaiske of Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Maryinsky direction, the Defence Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the Maryinka and Novomykhailivka districts of Donetsk region, where the enemy launched 5 unsuccessful attacks on the positions of our defenders. Such settlements of Donetsk region as Krasnohorivka, Georgiivka, Pobyeda, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviivka came under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.
The enemy did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Shakhtarsk direction. About 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechistivka, and Urozhaine of Donetsk region, were hit by artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defence Forces repelled the enemy's attack west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 25 settlements, including Poltavka, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Kamianske, Stepnohirsk of Zaporizhzhya region, were hit by artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Kherson direction, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Novotyahinka, Kherson were hit by enemy artillery fire as well as Solonchaky in the Mykolaiv region.
