During this period, Germany plans to continue providing security defense assistance packages to Ukraine and also conduct training for about 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers.

What is known about the amount of aid to Ukraine from Germany during this year

According to the head of the German Defense Ministry, Boris Pistorius, in his comments to the publication journalists, air defence systems will remain a priority for Germany in the supply of weapons to Ukraine.

In particular, Germany and France led the coalition on strengthening the air defence of Ukraine within the framework of the contact group on military support in the "Ramstein" format.

Air defense remains the number one priority for the protection of the Ukrainian population and infrastructure, Pistorius said.

According to him, together with the provision of modern air defence systems, Germany promises Ukraine long-term support by using the most modern systems, the best training and sustainable structures.

The head of the German Defense Ministry also recognised the need to accelerate the production of weapons in the country.

On the one hand, we cover the most urgent needs of Ukraine here and now with the help of weapons, materials and training, — notes Pistorius.

He emphasised that according to the plans of the German government, about 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers will undergo military training on the country's territory this year.

In addition, Germany will transfer IRIS-T air defence systems and Gepard SPAAG, artillery systems and ammunition for more than 80 Leopard 1 main battle tanks to Ukraine.

In addition, according to the information, the supply of armoured personnel vehicles, engineering and bridge tanks, 450 protected vehicles, and demining systems were supplied. Also, drones, radars and reconnaissance systems are planned.

Scholz calls on partners to increase aid to Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, in a comment to Die Zeit journalists, called the aid allocated by the EU countries to Ukraine insufficient and called for an increase.

According to the chancellor of Germany, the sums that the European states have so far foreseen for the current year and put in the budget for the assistance of the Ukrainian side are "not big enough".

In connection with this, I just conduct many telephone conversations with my colleagues and ask them to do more, — emphasised Scholz.

The German chancellor also thought it would be "presumptuous to assume that we can do it alone in the long run."
