German Minister for European Policy Anna Lührmann confirmed the intentions of official Berlin to double military aid to Ukraine next year.

What is known about the increase in military aid to Ukraine from Germany next year

The Federal Republic of Germany will double its military support to Ukraine next year from 4 billion to 8 billion euros, Lührmann noted.

According to her, this week is crucial for Ukraine and the EU in the context of the start of accession negotiations.

Lührmann assured that Germany supports the decision to start negotiations with Ukraine.

According to Anna Lührmann, the 26 members of the European Union are remarkably united in wanting to start negotiations.

Lithuania accused Hungary of undermining EU unity by blocking the issue of Ukraine

The President of Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda, stated that Hungary's position on several issues related to Ukraine, particularly regarding the start of accession negotiations and the provision of further military and economic assistance, undermines the unity of European countries.

"Hungary is harming the principle of unity, because if we do not get a positive answer regarding Ukraine, there will be more and more voices that threaten and challenge the principle of unity," Nauseda emphasized.

In his opinion, the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU and Brussels's subsequent military and economic support of Kyiv benefit Hungary.

Nauseda also hoped that the opportunity to invite Ukraine and Moldova to start official negotiations on EU membership would not be missed.

We will use all means to convince Hungary to change its mind, the President of Lithuania said.

Estonian President Alar Karis emphasized the importance of sending Russia a signal that Europe is united and Ukraine belongs to Europe.

Meanwhile, Latvian President Edgar Rinkevičs assured that the search for a compromise regarding Ukraine may "take longer than expected."

He also hoped that all necessary decisions would be made at the EU summit in Brussels and the NATO summit in Washington next year.
