The Bundestag refused to provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles
On February 22, the Bundestag voted on the first submission — the submission of the opposition parties CDU/CSU.
The proposal, which also provided for delivering the Taurus KEPD-350 to Ukraine, was rejected.
It is noted that there were 182 votes "for", 480 votes "against", and five abstained.
What is essential to understand is that a second vote is to be held later on the government parties' proposal, which requires, for example, the supply of additional long-range weapon systems and ammunition.
Why Germany does not provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles
A few months ago, the head of the German MOD chief, Boris Pistorius, assured that his country, they say, did not deny Ukraine the supply of Taurus missiles, but is not ready to do so now.
One of the key reasons could be the insecurity of the German chancellor Olaf Scholz since, as previously reported by the media, he expressed concern that Kyiv could attack the Russian Federation territory.
Official Kyiv has promised many times that it will not use Western long-range missiles for strikes on the territory of Russia.
On January 17, the Bundestag did not support the draft resolution calling for the supply of Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine. Only 178 deputies out of 666 voted "for".
On February 5, the head of the special staff for Ukraine at the Ministry of Defense of Germany, Christian Freuding, said that long-range Taurus missiles cannot turn the tide of the war in favor of the Armed Forces.
