How the weather affects the situation in the Avdiivka region — the CMA chief explanation

According to Vitalii Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration (CMA), adverse weather conditions have almost no effect on the high rate of hostilities in the city area.

What is known about the situation in the Avdiivka area

As hot as it was in our direction, it remains so, despite the weather conditions. Indeed, now it is minus 15, it has been snowing very hard for almost a day. Although it is not falling now, it poured a lot, up to half a meter in some places. This really complicates the conduct of hostilities, both from our side and from the enemy. Since we are on the defensive, they mostly try to storm, Barabash explains.

He emphasised that the Russian occupiers did not give up their attempts to surround Avdiivka and spare neither personnel nor military equipment for this.

Barabash said there was a decrease in recent enemy artillery attacks.

However, during the past night, as the head of the CMA emphasised, the occupiers increased the number of shelling of Ukrainian military positions and settlements of the territorial community.

He added that if an air alert is declared in the Donetsk region, in 99% of cases, the enemy directs attacks on Avdiivka.

On average, Russia carries out 20 aerial bombardments every day. The enemy is pressing, trying to storm. Now we understand that the ground has frozen and in the coming days the guys expect that the enemy will use more equipment. They are preparing for it. There are no serious changes on the front line, the guys repel all enemy activities and attacks, Barabash stressed.

What is known about the losses of the Russian army in the Avdiivka area

According to the ex-company commander of the "Aidar" battalion, Yevgen Dykyi, the Ukrainian military is destroying the reserves of the occupying Russian army near Avdiivka.

They have a political task of taking Avdiivka. I emphasise — it is precisely a political one, because no Russian general, even a sufficiently dumb-headed one, would set such a task, the military man said.

Dykyi emphasised that the Ukrainian military has deep and well-fortified positions on the territory of the Avdiivka Coke Plant, with many underground floors and robust concrete floors that can withstand aerial bombs.

Such a terrible, absolutely terrible meat grinder is currently operating in Avdiivka's plant zone, into which the Russian invaders enter one by one in these so-called "meat waves" and stay there. The ratio of losses is even better than what we had in Bakhmut — and in Bakhmut it was 1 to 8. But in Bakhmut there was simply nothing like a coke oven, there was an ordinary residential building, and here there is actually a fortification. That is, Avdiivka is now working like a huge meat grinder, where their reserves are being ground, and they are not giving it up, because, judging by everything, this is a task from the top cabinets, that is, directly from the Kremlin, the military officer notes.
