According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, he supports the innovations of the Zakarpattia regional state administration (RSA) and its head, Viktor Mykyta, because they have improved relations between the countries.
What is known about Szijjarto's visit to Ukraine
According to the Hungarian diplomacy chief, Viktor Mykyta "brought a completely new approach to Transcarpathia: a culture of reconciliation so that Ukrainians and Hungarians could live side by side in peace and harmony."
Peter Szijjarto also assured that official Budapest wants to improve cooperation with Ukraine.
Subsequently, the head of Hungary's Ministry of Foreign Affairs went to Uzhgorod, where he met with his Ukrainian colleague Dmytro Kuleba and the head of the president's office, Andriy Yermak.
The Ukrainian and Hungarian parties will agree on preparing the meeting between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban.
According to Szijjarto, meeting the country's leaders will make sense "if it can produce results."
Orban can come to Ukraine for the first time in 15 years
The Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Olha Stefanishyna, recently reported that the Ukrainian government is currently actively preparing for the visit of Hungarian leader Viktor Orban to Kyiv.
Back in December 2023, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced that he had accepted the President of Ukraine's invitation to discuss bilateral relations issues.
Zelenskyy previously said that in the conversation, he asked Orban to name at least one reason why Ukraine should not be in the EU.
