The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports that Iceland has also announced additional funding of €340,000 through NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package to purchase medical equipment for Ukraine.

We hope that our support will lead to the strengthening of Ukraine's defense potential. By joining coalitions and providing additional funding as part of NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package, we continue our non-lethal support to Ukraine in the fight against Russia's unjust and illegal invasion, the Icelandic MFA chief Bjarni Benediktsson said.

The Ukrainian MOD chief Rustem Umierov noted that thanks to partners, Ukraine will be able to strengthen the fields of information technology, communication and cyber security, as well as have the necessary training and equipment for demining.

The Ministry of Defense adds that since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Iceland has provided humanitarian, economic and security support mainly through international organizations — the UN, the World Bank, NATO and other multinational forums.

Demining and IT Coalition: What We Know

In July, Lithuania announced the formation of a demining coalition for Ukraine. This was agreed upon at a remote meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in the Rammstein format.

As of November, 21 countries are willing to participate in the demining coalition.

In September, during the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine meeting in the Ramstein format, Estonia, Luxembourg, and Ukraine launched an IT coalition to support Ukraine's Armed Forces in the cyber sphere.

Currently, the IT coalition includes eight countries: Estonia, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Japan. Great Britain and Italy have also announced their intention to join.
