On Mar. 12, a plane caught fire and crashed near the city of Ivanovo in Russia. Local Telegram channels report this.

Around noon, reports of a plane crash near the city of Ivanovo began to appear. It is reported that he fell in a forest strip 2 km from Severny airfield.

The plane's condition and the crew's fate are still unknown.

Previously, it could have been an Il-76, written on Russian Telegram channels. However, there is currently no official information.

A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft are based at Severny airfield, the Russian service of Radio Liberty writes.

The Ivanovo-Severny airfield is located in the Ivanovo region of the Russian Federation and is the primary location of the A-50 and A-50U long-range radar detection aircraft.

OSINT observer MT_Anderson previously published satellite images showing that there are 11 A-50s at the air base: four in active use on duty, one aircraft in good physical condition but standing still, and at least six more A-50s in storage, from which the engines were removed.
