All shelters in the capital will be inspected by 29 December. This decision was made by the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) following an accident in a school bomb shelter in the Solomianskyi district.

All bomb shelters will be checked in the capital

According to the KCMA, commissions have been set up in Kyiv and in each district to check the safety of bomb shelters. If any problems are found, they must be fixed as soon as possible.

The capital's authorities, heads of the capital's districts and those directly responsible for the bomb shelters are making every effort to ensure the safety of all civil protection facilities, the statement said.

The administration noted that it had already restored the bomb shelter after the accident and published the relevant photos.

What is known about the accident in the school bomb shelter

During an air raid in Kyiv on 22 December, the ceiling collapsed due to a burst pipe in a school bomb shelter built in 1981 when children were inside.

As it turned out, the accident occurred after a heating battery burst.

The Armstrong-type ceiling absorbed water, causing a segment of the ceiling to collapse. People were not injured.
