Poland's Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak, who is a member of the newly elected Prime Minister Donald Tusk's team, began to argue that it is necessary to close the agricultural market for Ukraine for 20 years after its accession to the European Union.

Polish official made a new cynical proposal regarding Ukraine

According to Michal Kolodziejczak, official Warsaw should do everything possible to protect its interests in connection with Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Poland pointed out that 95 farms dominate Ukrainian agriculture.

He also emphasised that these are holdings that concentrate 50% of agricultural land in Ukraine.

That is why we need to protect our interests, for example, as Germany did when Poland joined the EU - the labour market for Poles was frozen for 8 years. Today, we need to say that agri-food products from Ukraine - raw and processed - should not enter Poland, for example, for 20 years after Ukraine's accession to the EU," said the member of Donald Tusk's team.

What is important to know about Michal Kolodziejczak

Poland's current deputy minister of agriculture previously led protests against Ukrainian grain imports led by the Agronomy movement.

When he was elected to the Polish Sejm, he supported the protests on the border with Ukraine and is now in Medyka, where farmers from the Deceived Village organisation are protesting.

Michal Kolodziejczak continues to argue that the lack of regulation between Poland and Ukraine "leads to dramas in the Polish countryside".

He continues to complain that the previous PiS government allowed "illegal and uncontrolled imports" of grain from Ukraine.
