According to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian military is currently engaged in heavy fighting with the criminals of the Russian occupation army along the entire front line.

What is known about situation in eastern Ukraine

According to the analysts of the ISW, on 9 January, positional fighting continued on the Kupyansk-Svativ-Kreminna line, but no confirmed changes on the front line were recorded.

According to Ukrainian and Russian sources, positional fighting took place northeast of Kupyansk, in the vicinity of Synkivka and near Lake Lyman, as well as west of Kreminna, in the vicinity of Serebryansky Forestry, and east of Terny.

In addition, it is noted that positional fighting continues to the east of Bakhmut, the Donetsk region, in the area of Spirne, and to the northwest — in the area of Bohdanivka, to the west - in the area of Khromove and towards Ivanivka, and to the southwest — in the area of Klishchiivka and Andriivka.

According to a representative of one of the armed forces brigades operating in the Bakhmut area, the Russian occupiers received an order to seize Ivanivsk on the eve of the re-election of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.

According to the Russian military, the criminal army of Russia is conducting a "creeping", largely limited offensive in the direction of Chasovyi Yar near Bakhmut, with prospects for very little success and the impossibility of rapid advance.

On January 9, active fighting continued in the Avdiivka area.

In particular, hostilities took place north-west of Avdiivka in the area of Ocheretyane, Novobakhmutivka and Stepove, north-west — in the area of Avdiivka Coke Plant, west - in the area of Syeverne and Tonenke, and south-west — in the area of Pervomaiske and Nevelske.

Geolocation data as of 9 January shows that Russian occupants managed to advance to the southern part of Novomykhailivka, southwest of Donetsk.

The Russian military claims minor successes of the occupiers on the southeastern outskirts of Novomykhailivka.

At the same time, Ukrainian troops launched a counteroffensive south of Novomykhailivka and forced the Russian army's war criminals to retreat from unspecified positions.

According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 14 enemy attacks were repelled during the day in the area of Heorhiivka, Novomykhailivka and Pobyeda, southwest of Donetsk.

What is known about situation in south of Ukraine

On January 9, fighting continued on the administrative border of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.

However, ISW analysts do not record confirmed changes to the front line.

In particular, fighting took place in the districts of Staromayorske, Pryiutne and Chervone near Velyka Novosilka.

According to one of the Russian military bloggers, the Ukrainian military conducted a successful counterattack north of Novoprokopivka, south of Robotyne, regaining some of the lost positions and slightly approaching Novoprokopivka itself.

However, analysts have no official confirmation of these claims.

According to both Ukrainian and Russian sources, positional battles took place near Robotyney, Novoprokopivka, and Verbove.

Thus, among other things, combat operations are complicated by bad weather conditions, strong winds and wet snow.

In the Kherson region, analysts report that, based on geolocation data as of 9 January, Russian occupiers hold positions along the Konka River northwest of Oleshky on the left bank of the Dnipro river.

Positional combat operations continue in the Krynky area.

In addition, analysts note that the war criminals of Russian army are bringing a large number of personnel and military equipment to the territory of the occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian partisans discovered several military installations near the Zaozersky district of Yevpatoriya in western Crimea, as well as a stream of artillery and cluster munitions on the railway near Biyuk-Onlar in central Crimea, reportedly heading to Russian troops in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Ukrainian partisans also reported that Russian troops had moved the main large amphibious assault ship Ivan Gren from Novorossiysk to Sevastopol.
