According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), the appeal of the leaders of the unrecognised Transnistria to Russia for protection from Moldova was not the result that the Kremlin expected.

What reaction did the Kremlin expect from Transnistria's leadership?

Yusov noted that DIU had already indicated that Transnistria would not apply to Russia for accession.

Today, given the situation in Transnistria, nothing happened. Russia did not get the desired result. In this situation, their political and informational efforts have been defeated, the representative of Ukrainian military intelligence emphasised.

Yusov added that an active information campaign regarding the dissemination of information regarding PMR's appeal to the Russian Federation regarding accession indicates the interest of one of the parties in this.

When we talk about Moldova and Ukraine, it is clear who this side is, Yusov noted.

The DIU representative emphasised that the unrecognised Transnistria leaders also appealed to the EU institutions.

What is known about Moldova's reaction

The Moldovan government's press secretary, Daniel Vodă, noted that Chisinau does not see a threat of a new escalation and destabilisation of the situation in the region against the background of the appeals of representatives of the unrecognised Transnistria.

He emphasised that the "congress of deputies" gathered by the separatists was an attempt to spread hysteria in society around the "so-called event in Tiraspol", which was planned by "those who are on the left of the Dniester and the Kremlin."

We do not see the dangers of destabilisation. We are watching very carefully and repeat that this region also wants peace and security. And what is happening in Tiraspol is a propaganda event, a ploy that does not deserve live broadcasts by foreign journalists or tense headlines in news bulletins, emphasised the spokesperson of the government of Moldova.
