On the night of 11 January, large-scale fires broke out in Moscow and the Moscow region. A production workshop and an administrative building caught fire.
Fires in Moscow region
According to online reports, the Polikom plant in Obukhovo, the Moscow Region, caught fire overnight. The fire was classified as a third-ranked blaze, as it covered more than 8,000 square metres.
Russian firefighters extinguished the fire for over 4 hours. More than 100 rescuers and 33 pieces of equipment were working at the scene. It is not known what caused such a large-scale fire.
By the way, Polikom is one of Russia's largest manufacturers. It specialises in the production of thermoplastic compounds and composite materials for such industries as construction, automotive, household appliances, footwear, medicine and food. In addition, the network adds that the owner of the production facilities, Gavary Group, is under sanctions. It was accused of producing materials for special footwear, helmets, body armour and other equipment for the occupiers.
Police suspect that the plant may have been set on fire. It is also possible that a short circuit could have occurred during the repair work.
Administrative building caught fire in Moscow
The occupiers could also warm themselves in Moscow, where an administrative and industrial building caught fire. The network did not specify which facility caught fire. The Russian Emergencies Ministry only reported that the fire covered an area of about 2,000 square metres.
Rescuers also spent several hours extinguishing the fire.
