Germany will also participate in the Czech initiative to purchase 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine.

This was stated by the press secretary of the German government, Steffen Hebeshreit.

He emphasised that the German government contributes a "three-digit million sum" to purchase ammunition for Ukraine within the framework of the Czech Republic's initiative.

At the same time, the department's press secretary did not disclose further details.

Initiative of the Czech Republic: projectiles for Ukraine

Earlier, the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, said that his country had discovered 800,000 shells that could be purchased for Ukraine. The head of state clarified that the shells can be delivered within a few weeks, but funding is needed.

This initiative is a backup option since the EU has not promised to provide Ukraine with 1 million artillery shells by March.

A number of countries are already allocating money to purchase ammunition for Ukraine. These include Lithuania, Belgium, France, Canada, the Netherlands, and others.
