Aid of Germany to Ukraine

Germany has become one of the countries helping Ukraine by providing military, political and financial support. Berlin has donated several types of artillery, older and newer Leopard tanks, IRIS-T and Patriot air defence systems, ammunition, vehicles, drones and other types of weapons.

The day before, it became known that by the end of 2023, Ukraine would receive two more IRIS-T air defence systems from Germany to protect civilian and energy infrastructure from Russian attacks in winter.

According to Yuriy Ignat, the spokesman of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the IRIS-T systems, which Germany will additionally send to Ukraine by the end of 2023, will strengthen Ukrainian air defense this winter.

He noted that IRIS-T is the newest system in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which Germany produces for Ukraine. And despite the fact that these systems cannot work against ballistic missiles, they are full-fledged and very powerful systems.

Earlier, the German government announced that it would allocate 200 million euros to Ukraine. The money will be used for rebuilding the country.

Germany has also recently provided Ukraine with a new military aid package. It includes components for IRIS-T air defence systems, armoured vehicles and various drones.
