Lithuania protested Russia over the recent attacks on Ukraine

Lithuania

A representative of the Russian embassy in Vilnius was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, where he was strongly protested in connection with the recent missile and drone attacks on Ukraine.

Lithuania protested Russia over the recent attacks on Ukraine

Lithuania strongly condemns Russia's war against Ukraine, including these acts of brutal aggression, and calls on Russia to put an end to it immediately. The Russian political and military leadership, guilty of the crime of aggression against Ukraine, must inevitably be brought to justice, the message says.

At the same time, it is emphasised that those who carry out missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities and their residents, civilian and critical infrastructure, which are considered war crimes under international law, will not escape responsibility.

Russia will also be obliged to compensate Ukraine and its people for all the destruction and losses caused by the illegal war, the Lithuanian MFA statement said.

At the same time, Lithuania calls on the international community to strengthen military support for Ukraine, helping it adequately defend itself against Russian military aggression and to pursue an even more moral policy towards Russia and its supporters based on complete international isolation and tough international sanctions.

Massive missile attack on Ukraine on January 2

On January 2, the Russian occupiers repeated a large-scale shelling, as on December 29. Initially, the Russians launched 35 kamikaze drones, all shot down. After that, 99 missiles of various types were fired over Ukraine.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, reported that the air defense forces shot down 72 missiles, including all 10 "Kinzhals". The main targets of the enemy were Kyiv and Kharkiv. Three rocket hits were recorded in the Shevchenkivskyy district of Kharkiv.
