What is known about the strengthening of defense by NATO countries in Europe

According to the journalists of the publication, the Alliance has introduced a rotational model of air defense deployed in Lithuania.

According to the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, Arvydas Anushauskas, NATO members have agreed to maintain the air defense system at the rotation level, within the framework of which the allied countries will deploy air defense systems in the Baltic countries for a certain period.

He noted that, among other things, the air defense system involves the deployment of the Patriot air defense system.

Anoushauskas added that the Patriot systems were provided by European allies, not by the US.

It is expected that this principle will not be a one-off for several months, but will cover all our calendar months and will significantly increase our air defense capabilities, - explains the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense.

Journalists noted that several European countries have expressed concern that Russia's war against Ukraine could eventually lead to an even greater conflict between Moscow and NATO.

What is known about the largest NATO exercise in Europe since the Cold War

According to Le Monde, NATO countries are currently conducting the largest military exercises in Europe since the end of the Cold War.

In the large-scale maneuvers of the Alliance called Steadfast Defender 24, about 90,000 servicemen from 32 countries and at least 1,100 units of armored vehicles are participating.

NATO military leaders, who until now have been reluctant to directly target Russia in order to avoid any escalation, now unhesitatingly identify Moscow as the enemy to be fought in their scenarios. For Dragon 24, the goal set before the troops was to advance as quickly as possible from Western Europe to the border between Poland and Belarus in order to prevent enemy forces, the publication said.
