Residents of several regions of Russia have complained about a failure in the work of Telegram, WhatsApp and Viber social networks, which they associate with the actions of local authorities in response to large-scale protests in Yakutia.

What is known about the protests in Yakutia and the large-scale failure of social networks

According to the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA, a large-scale failure in social networks is associated with protests in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where hundreds of people came out to protest the murder of a resident, in which an 18-year-old native of Tajikistan is accused.

It is noted that complaints about the suspension of social networks began to come from the Amur and Oryol regions, Khabarovsk Krai, where the most significant number of people complained about the suspension of social networks, Yakutia and Novosibirsk regions.

Residents of Moscow and other Russian cities and regions reported problems with Telegram, WhatsApp, and Viber.

At the same time, as the publication notes, all services work with a VPN.

At the same time, Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Republic of Sakha Andrei Suslov said all communication lines and cellular operators usually work.

According to him, there was allegedly a failure in the work of social networks; preventive works coordinated with Roskomnadzor are being carried out.

At the same time, all these failures are connected precisely with the protests — today, dozens of people who were outraged by the murder of a 26-year-old compatriot came out to several squares of Yakutsk (the capital of the Republic).

As the resource notes, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Volodymyr Arbuzov and Deputy Chief of Police for Public Order Oleg Lebid joined the protesters. According to them, the suspect is detained.

He is a citizen of Russia, like you. Guys, why are you here? — said Lebid to the audience.

How Kremlin propaganda reacts to the events

At the same time, propaganda publications controlled by the Kremlin claim that the protests are allegedly artificially fanned against the background of "anti-migrant sentiments."

Foreigners were blamed for this — they say unknown people called on messengers to "pay attention to the incident" and go out to protest.

The mechanics of promoting the protest obviously pointed to work from abroad. The Ministry of Internal Affairs appealed to citizens not to succumb to provocations and reminded them of responsibility for participating in illegal actions, Kremlin propagandists claim.

The head of the Republic, Aysen Nikolaev, instructed to strengthen public security measures, as well as to strengthen control over migrants. Participants of the so-called SVO-Russians, who fought against Ukraine, made a similar appeal.

Propagandists claim that the "attempt to sway the situation" failed. He said that after a "polite dialogue" with the police, most of the protesters dispersed, and the most active ones were detained.
