Lubinets announced the return of hundreds of prisoners by the end of the year

Lubinets

Ukraine and Russia agreed to visit up to 400 Ukrainian prisoners of war by the end of 2023.

Russia has promised Ukraine access to hundreds of prisoners by the end of the year

He reminded that recently 119 Ukrainian prisoners of war visited Russia for the first time. Video evidence was provided to representatives of Ukraine.

According to Lubinets, of the 119 defenders, some were verified as prisoners of war, and the other part was not verified. Three soldiers were even considered to be dead.

The Ombudsman noted that the visits are a tool to understand that the defenders of Ukraine are alive.

I can officially state that we have an agreement — by the end of this year, on the eve of the Christmas holidays, there will be three more visits of approximately the same number of prisoners of war. I hope that we will visit up to 400 of our citizens in this way through counter-visas (Russian ombudsman Tetiana Moskalkova — ed.). We will be able to get at least some access to our citizens, Lubinets added.

Visiting Ukrainian prisoners of war

On November 30, it became known that the Russian Ombudsman visited 119 Ukrainian prisoners of war.

At the same time, the same number of Russian prisoners of war were visited by representatives of the office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Lubinets said at the time that Ukrainian soldiers who the Russians captured recorded a video appeal to their relatives.
