As Politico was able to find out, French leader Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Germany on March 15 to discuss support for Ukraine with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Macron will hold talks with Scholz regarding Ukraine
Journalists refer to their insiders in German and French political circles.
In addition, it is emphasised that the Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, will also participate in the negotiations.
Macron, Scholz and Tusk want the meeting to be a show of unity after a tense period in which Franco-German disputes over Ukraine escalated into open hostility.
The prolonged tension began with Macron's statement that he does not rule out the possibility of sending Western troops to fight in Ukraine. The more cautious Scholz replied that this would not happen.
According to the publication, Macron's statement about "cowards in Europe" was directed at the German Chancellor.
Official Berlin is concerned that Macron has been tough on Ukraine but has not provided the same military support as Germany.
Thus, according to the data of the Kiel Institute, Paris gave Ukraine 640 million euros less in military aid than Germany. However, Macron's team says this is not true.
Macron again cancelled his visit to Ukraine
Recently, it became known that the French leader has again canceled a planned visit to Ukraine amid tensions with allies due to his increasingly aggressive rhetoric.
The Elysée Palace says the visit will take place over the "next few weeks".
According to journalists, the visit's cancellation was decided to give time for negotiations with allies, which will bring "tangible results" for Ukraine.
The French leader's visit to Ukraine was also recently announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
