The explosions took place in the city of Podolsk, Moscow region, and in the Leningrad region of Russia. The Russians claimed a drone attack and air defence operations.

What is known about the new explosions in Russia

The Mayor of Moscow, Serhiy Sobyanin, said that on the night of January 18, in the Podolsk city district near Moscow, Russian air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone flying towards the capital of the RF.

According to preliminary data, there were no damages or injuries at the place where the debris fell.

The Ministry of Defense of the RF reported that one unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed over the territory of the Moscow region and one was intercepted over the territory of the Leningrad region.

In addition, on the morning of January 18, the mayor's office of the Russian city of Belgorod reported a missile threat in the city and advised residents to stay at home. The alarm lasted only 20 minutes, after which the local authorities reported that they allegedly shot down 10 missiles over the air defense area.

What is known about explosions in Russia

We will remind you that the Russian Ministry of Defense recently announced that a drone was allegedly shot down in the Saratov region, blaming Ukraine.

The governor of the region clarified that the drone was destroyed over the territory of the Engelsky district. The Engels airfield is located there, where the strategic bombers of the Russian Federation — Tu-160 and Tu-95MS, which the Russians use for attacks on Ukraine, are based.

Later, the Russian mass media stated that there were two drones, they were allegedly shot down, and they fell on the territory of the Engels 2 military airfield.

The Russians also announced a drone attack on the night of January 11. According to them, a pumping station was allegedly damaged in Kaluga.
