On March 1, it became officially known that French Mirage 2000-5 aircraft intercepted Russian Su-30 fighters and An-72 transport aircraft over the Baltic Sea.

NATO announced the details of the interception of Russian fighter jets

The NATO Air Force Command press service states the incident took place in the international airspace north of Poland on Feb.29.

Check out it looks like when two French Mirage 2000-5s intercept two Russian SU-30-M jets over the Baltic Sea yesterday. Directly after French fighter were re-tasked to a new mission, where they also intercepted the Russian An-72 flying in the international airspace north of Poland, the report says.

French aircraft have been deployed in some NATO member countries as part of a mission called "NATO Air Police".

It aims to preserve the safety of the airspace of the bloc countries.

In addition, it is emphasised that these missions were intensified after the aggressor country of the Russian Federation launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Over the past few years, there have been several interceptions of aircraft that did not cause any serious incidents.

It is also worth recalling the incident when, in March 2023, a Russian plane collided with an American drone in the Black Sea.
