NATO Secretary General to name the only way for convincing Putin to stop the war against Ukraine

NATO
Jens Stoltenberg

According to Jens Stoltenberg, the West can stop the war in Ukraine only by significantly strengthening its military capabilities and providing Kyiv with even more aid.

Putin only understands the language of weapons

NATO chief pays the bloc's members' attention to the fact that the probability of an acceptable negotiated peace outcome will begin to increase only when the Alliance increases aid to Ukraine.

According to Jens Stoltenberg, at this moment, he and his team do not see the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's desire to negotiate an official solution acceptable to Kyiv.

Therefore, the only way to achieve this is to convince Putin that he will not win on the battlefield, and the only way to achieve this is to strengthen Ukraine's military capability by providing it with support, the NATO leader explained.

Jens Stoltenberg also reiterated that it is exclusively up to the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy's team to decide what conditions are acceptable for negotiations and any agreement.

But in the current situation, the Alliance should only provide Ukraine with powerful military aid, and not impose its vision and rules of the game.

NATO has updated its forecast about the duration of the war

Jens Stoltenberg said that he hopes for new successes of Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield but warns that progress will not come quickly and easily.

We need to be prepared for a long journey. Wars are by their very nature unpredictable. What we know for sure is that what happens at the negotiating table is inextricably linked to the situation on the battlefield, the NATO leader explained.

Against this background, one cannot fail to mention that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also predicted that the war in Ukraine would be “very, very” long.
