Employees of one of the morgues in the Russian city of Salekhard claim that the body of the dead opposition politician Oleksiy Navalny, whose death in a correctional colony became known on February 16, is missing.

What is known about the disappearance of Navalny's body

According to the newspaper's journalists, Navalny's body was supposed to arrive at the only morgue in Salekhard, located near the colony where the Kremlin-imprisoned opposition politician died.

Meanwhile, Navalny's press secretary, Kira Yarmysh, confirmed the politician's death to journalists, referring to the official notification sent to Navalny's mother Lyudmila, and demanded that his body be immediately handed over to his family.

According to Yarmysh, Navalny's other lawyer, who came to Salekhard, was informed that "the cause of Oleksiy's death has not been established, a repeated histological examination was taken."

Her results are supposed to be next week. It is obvious that they are lying and doing everything not to reveal the body, - suggests the representative of the opposition politician.

In turn, Ivan Zhdanov, the director of the "Fund for Combating Corruption" founded by Navalny, also wrote about it, saying that "the colony cheated."

They said that the body is in the Salekhard morgue. They say there is no body. ... Everything about the "thrombus" turned out to be a lie, as expected. The body will not be released, as the cause of death has not been established, Zhdanov says.

What the USA says about Navalny's death

On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, US Vice President Kamala Harris noted that the news of the death of opposition politician Alexei Navalny shows the extreme brutality of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.

Yesterday we heard the news that Oleksiy Navalny died. I met his wife Yulia. I expressed my disgust about this, - emphasized Harris.

She added that Navalny "spoke against corruption and autocracy, he stood for the truth."

The news of his death is confirmation that Putin is a brutal person. And that is why we need to continue supporting Ukraine. Ukraine is fighting heroically against this brutality, the US vice president noted.
