Russia's night attack on Ukraine: Air defence forces shot down 30 enemy Shaheds

The Ukrainian Air Defence Forces shot down 30 of the 31 Shahed kamikaze drones used by the Russians to attack Ukraine on the night of 16 December.

The Air Force announced the results of its work

According to the military, the occupiers attacked with Shahed type attack drones from Russia's Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Seshcha, Kursk areas.

In total, 31 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs were used in the attack, which the occupiers sent to different regions of Ukraine.

Fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Armed Forces were involved in repelling the air attack.

As a result of combat operations, 30 Shaheds were destroyed in the Dnipro, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytskyi regions.

Night attack on December 16

Late last night, on 15 December, Russian forces launched several groups of attack drones from the north and south over Ukrainian territory.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv and the region. The Kyiv City Military Administration and the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that air defence forces were operating both in the capital and in the region.

The Ukrainian Air Forces also warned of a ballistic missile launch from Kyiv, but after inspection, it turned out to be a false target.
