North Korea supplies weapons to Russia again

Russia has resumed the supply of ammunition from North Korea by sea after a pause that lasted about a month.

This was reported by the South Korean publication NK Pro regarding the analysis of satellite images.

According to the publication, a Russian cargo ship of the Lady R type, which supplied weapons for the war against Ukraine, docked at Berth No. 1 of the North Korean port of Rason on Mar. 10. The vessel arrived with blue objects on deck, likely containers from Russia for unloading at the pier.

Since Russian ships began arriving at Rason in August last year, they have been unloading containers at Berth No. 1 and then picking up containers at Berth No. 2 for delivery to Russia.

As the publication emphasizes, the last time the ship appeared on almost daily satellite images near both piers was on Feb. 12.

The Lady R delivered cargo from North Korea to Russia twice in October 2023 and once in February 2024.

North Korea supplies weapons to Russia for the war with Ukraine

On Feb. 24, the US State Department announced that since the beginning of September last year, North Korea has handed over 10,000 containers of ammunition or other military materials to Russia.

On Feb. 27, South Korean MOD chief Shin Won-sik said that North Korean weapons factories are working at full capacity to supply weapons and ammunition to Russia.

At the beginning of January, the representative of the US National Security Council, John Kirby, stated that Russia struck Ukraine with North Korean ballistic missiles on Dec. 30, 2023, as well as on January 2 and 6, 2024.

On Jan. 6, according to the White House, Russia again fired several North Korean missiles over Ukraine.

South Korea's representative at the UN, Hwang Jung-kook, said that North Korea is using Ukraine as a "testing ground" to test ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin announced on Jan. 11 that the Prosecutor General's Office had received the first evidence of the Russian Army's use of missiles from North Korea.

In North Korea, the US accusations of transferring ballistic missiles to Russia for the war against Ukraine are "groundless".

On Feb. 22, the SSU reported that it had documented the facts of air attacks by the Russian Federation on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine with the use of North Korean weapons. According to the investigation, the occupiers released more than 20 North Korean weapons in Ukraine.

On Feb. 23, the DIU deputy chief, Vadym Skibitsky, said that North Korea had already handed over 1.5 million artillery ammunition to Russia. Still, these are shells from the 1970s and 1980s. Half of them don't work; the other must be repaired or checked.
