Norway's aid is primarily aimed at those who have lost their homes and have limited access to food, clean drinking water and hygiene items due to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

Norway will help Ukraine

On November 13, Norway announced the provision of €84 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The money should be directed to education, health care and the demining of territories.

It is stated in the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.

Now Ukrainians are facing a new cold winter of war. Almost 18 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Russia's brutal war of aggression against the Ukrainian people continues in full force, said Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide.

According to the diplomat, firstly, aid is aimed at those who have lost their homes and have limited access to food, clean drinking water and hygiene items. The money will also go to education, health care and psychosocial support, as well as to the protection of the civilian population, including humanitarian demining.

It is indicated that cooperation with foreign donors makes Ukraine more stable and prevents further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.

In October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the current situation at the frontline and further defense cooperation between the countries with the Prime Minister of Norway. Particular attention was paid to the topic of strengthening the Ukrainian air defense system to protect critical infrastructure, ports, and the grain corridor.

Norway accepts Ukrainian refugees en masse

In Norway, there is a sharp increase in the flow of Ukrainian refugees. In this connection, 3,000 additional places will be created in emergency reception centers.

During the last month, more than half of all Ukrainians who arrived in the Scandinavian region turned to Norway.

The Norwegian Directorate for Foreigners reported a sharp increase in the number of refugees arriving from Ukraine over the past month. More than 1,000 Ukrainians started coming to the country every week.

In the last four weeks, about 60% of all Ukrainians who arrived in the Scandinavian countries turned to Norway, said UDI Director Frode Forfang.

It is believed that two-thirds of the refugees came directly from Ukraine, and a third lived in another European country before coming to Norway.

Due to the influx of refugees from the war, the reception centre in Rode is overcrowded.

In connection with the increase in income, we will soon create from 2,500 to 3,000 additional seats. Several new premises will be created. We will also postpone plans to close some existing emergency facilities. There may be a need to rapidly increase the number of seats if arrivals continue at this rate, the official added.
