Poland reacted to Russian attack on Ukraine

The Polish Operational Command reported that two pairs of F-16 fighter jets and an allied refuelling aircraft had been deployed to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.

We would like to inform you that there is intense activity of long-range aviation of Russia related to strikes on the territory of Ukraine. To ensure the safety of Polish airspace, two pairs of F-16 fighter jets and an allied refuelling aircraft were lifted. At around 5:45 a.m., the American pair deployed at the Lask base took off, and at around 6:15 a.m., the Polish pair took off from the Krzesin base.

They added that the activities of Polish and allied aircraft may be associated with increased noise levels, especially in the eastern part of the country.

Russian missile flew over Poland

On 29 December, Poland announced that an unidentified aircraft had entered its airspace from Ukraine.

Everything points to the fact that the Russian missile entered Polish airspace and then left. We have confirmation of this on national and allied radars," said General Wieslaw Kukula, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army.

Troops were sent to search for the site of the missile crash, but they did not find it.

On the morning of 2 January, Deputy Defence Minister Pavel Zalevsky confirmed on RMF24 that the Russian missile had left the country.
