Polish farmers renewed their protest at the Shegyni-Medyka checkpoint. From 09:00 on January 4, they began to block traffic at the checkpoint.

What is happening at the border

As reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, complications in the movement of transport are possible both when leaving Poland and when entering.

In this direction, about 800 trucks are currently waiting to enter Ukraine on the territory of Poland, the message says.

As the protesters' leader, Roman Kondruv, said, they will let through three trucks per hour. They also promise to allow humanitarian cargo and cars with perishable goods to pass immediately. Cars and buses can cross the border as usual.

Initially, the protest will last until February 3.

At the same time, information has already appeared in the Polish mass media that farmers from the "Deceived Village" association have resumed blocking the checkpoint in "Medyka".

We want to sign an agreement, a bilateral agreement, that is, between the ministry and the farmers, if such an agreement is signed, the protest will be suspended as soon as possible, the leader of the protesters, Roman Kondrov, said for Polsat News reports.

According to him, the protest will have a stricter form this time — only one truck will be let out of the queue per hour.

What are the demands of Polish farmers

On January 3, Polish farmers announced that they would resume the blockade of the "Medyka - Shegyni" crossing point on January 4 if they did not receive written guarantees regarding fulfilling their demands.

In particular, they demand subsidies for the corn purchase and leave the agricultural tax unchanged. The protesters' leader assured that "written guarantees will automatically end the blockade of the checkpoint."

In turn, the Polish government promised to try to convince the strikers to stop blocking the passage of trucks at the Ukraine border.
