Polish farmers stage protest in Warsaw
Polish farmers have been holding large-scale protests across the country for several weeks. They oppose food imports from Ukraine and the European Green Deal policy, which imposes many restrictions on farmers. Today, strikers are protesting in Warsaw.
The Polish RMF24 reports it on Feb.27.
The strikers blocked roads and streets in the centre of the Polish capital. It was also not without provocations: unknown people lit fireworks and a bonfire on Defilade Square. About 10,000 farmers are expected to take part in the protests.
According to the media, farmers have already approached the Sejm . They also plan to reach the office of Polish PM Donald Tusk. The farmers reported earlier about the planned protests.
Farmers' protests in the EU
On February 22, farmers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and other EU countries staged protests along the Czech borders, blocking some checkpoints. They demand a reduction in bureaucracy and changes in the policy of the European Union.
One Slovak farmer said that the sector faces "hundreds of millions of problems" that harm its competitiveness, the biggest of which is bureaucracy.
The blockade of the German border began at 1:00 p.m. on February 25, with protesters blocking traffic in both directions on the A2 in Świecko, which merges into the German A12 in Frankfurt am Oder.
At first, the farmers announced that the blockade would last until March 20. After negotiations with local authorities, companies and carriers, they held a 24-hour warning strike until 13:00 on February 26.
It is possible that the blockade will be extended or that another blockade will take place.
The Germans were warned about the strikes and urged to avoid this path. Trucks are also advised not to use the city bridge between Frankfurt and Slubice. There, German traders and carriers announced a protest action from 10:00 p.m. until noon on February 26.

Farmers are dissatisfied that Ukrainian grain transiting through Poland can allegedly remain in the country.
Ukraine's PM Denys Shmyhal recently proposed a five-point plan to unblock the border.
