From January 4, Polish farmers from the "Deceited Village" organization are going to resume the blockade of the "Medyka-Sheghini" checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.

Farmers want to block "Medyka-Shegyni" border checkpoint

In a comment to the PAP agency, the organisation's leader, Roman Kondruv, said about the intention to resume the protest.

We have not received written confirmation that our demands will be met, so we continue our protest.

The day before, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Czeslaw Sekerski, came to Medyka who assured that the farmers' demands would be met.

Kondruv wanted a written assurance, which he said did not happen.

Polish farmers are demanding the country's government subsidies for corn, an increase in liquid loans for farmers and the maintenance of the agricultural tax in 2023.

Kondruv said the protest would be more challenging this time — one truck per hour would be allowed through.

Blockade of truck passage to Ukraine

On November 6, Polish truckers blocked the movement of trucks near three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine: "Korchova — Krakowiec", "Grebenne — Rava-Ruska", and "Dorogusk — Yagodyn".

They demand to restore permits for Ukrainian truckers that were cancelled by the agreement with the European Union by June 30, 2024.

Polish farmers from the "Deceited Village" began a blockade of the checkpoint in Medica on November 23, 2023.

On December 24, Polish farmers suspended their protest at one of the border points, but despite this, truck drivers continued to block the other three.

At the end of December, the governments of Ukraine and Poland agreed on an action plan for unblocking the border.
