The Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland reported that it has turned to Ukraine with a proposal to settle the border blockade, which Polish truckers have organized for three weeks. The government offers Ukraine to agree to the demands of Polish truckers.
What does the Polish government offer Ukraine
The Polish government reported that the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, Andrzej Adamczyk, sent a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov, regarding the protest of Polish carriers.
The Polish government cites the introduction of the electronic queue by the Ukrainian side as one of the reasons for the protest action by Polish carriers.
Adamczyk called to fulfil the demands of Polish carriers by cancelling the mandatory registration in the electronic queue of vehicles returning from Ukraine to the EU without cargo, at least at two checkpoints: Zosin-Uscilug and Nizhankovice-Malchovice.
The minister also appealed to the European Commissioner for Transport, Adina Veljan, regarding the restoration of the need to obtain permits for international transportation, which were cancelled for Ukrainian transport companies.
Poland identified problems related to compliance with the contract terms by carriers from Ukraine and violations of rules by Ukrainian truckers.
Preparations are underway for the EU Transport Council meeting, which will occur on December 4, 2023, in Brussels.
It will discuss the consequences of the agreement on the abolition of the need to obtain permits for international transportation.
A strike of Polish truckers
Since November 6, Polish carriers have blocked the movement of trucks at the checkpoints "Krakivets—Korchova", "Yagodyn—Dorogusk" and "Rava-Ruske—Grebenne".
They demanded the return of permits for commercial transportation for Ukraine, which the European Union cancelled.
On November 23, the Poles began to block the fourth checkpoint — "Medyka", adjacent to the Ukrainian border checkpoint "Shegyni".
Two Ukrainian truck drivers died during the strike.
On November 23, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, Vasyl Zvarych, addressed another official note to the MFA of Poland, demanding that the movement of cargo vehicles be unblockaded.
