The blockade of the Ukrainian border by Polish truckers continues

On the border of Ukraine and Poland, about 2,000 trucks are standing in queues, and the directions of three checkpoints are being blocked.

The spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, reported this information.

The blocking of the directions of the checkpoints "Rava-Ruska — Grebenne", "Krakivets — Korchova", "Yagodyn — Dorogusk" continues. According to the information of the Polish border guards, as of this morning, 1,350 trucks are in queues in these three directions towards Ukraine, the spokesman said.

Demchenko reminded that on January 6, around 9 p.m., traffic was unblocked toward the "Shegyini-Medyka" border checkpoint, but the queues remain, including 550 trucks as of this morning. After the unblocking, the traffic of trucks in this direction became more intense.

Traffic for trucks is not blocked in other areas of the border. There is a decrease in the queues of freight vehicles in the direction of Ukraine. The intensity of traffic to the entrance and exit is ensured. The queue remains only on the territory of Slovakia in the direction of Ukraine in the direction of the checkpoint "Uzhhorod". As of this morning, 400 trucks were expected to pass, he said.

On November 6, Polish truckers began blocking truck traffic near the three most extensive border checkpoints with Ukraine: "Korchova —- Krakowiec", "Grebenne -— Rava-Ruska", and "Dorogusk — Yagodyn".

Among the main demands is the return of the practice of permits for Ukrainian truckers, which was cancelled by the agreement with the European Union until June 30, 2024.

Ukraine has fulfilled its part of the plan to unblock the Polish-Ukrainian border

Ukraine has fulfilled part of the agreements recorded in the action plan to unblock Poland's border.

Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach stated this on the "United News" telethon.

The plan we agreed on has been implemented by Ukraine, and we have no questions today. The question is what else the protesters are demanding from the Polish government, Derkach said.

He emphasised that the European Union and the Polish government confirmed the impossibility of cancelling the agreement on the liberalisation of transportation.

Derkach also reported that the number of two-way transports carried out by Polish truckers was down by only 5% compared to before the full-scale invasion.

Therefore, their claims that Ukrainian carriers have completely "killed" the Polish transportation market are false, the official emphasised.

At the same time, according to him, Ukraine did not receive nearly 10 billion euros in customs duties in November 2023 alone due to the blocking of the border. Poland will also suffer losses.
