Propaganda of fear. How Russia is trying to intimidate Ukraine's Western allies

Center for Countering Disinformation of Ukraine
Fear Propaganda

Russia continues to intimidate the Western world so that the partner countries take the necessary political decisions of the Russian Federation regarding the war in Ukraine.

Russia is conducting a powerful information campaign against Ukraine

"Fear Propaganda" is a multi-stage information campaign of Russians, the target audiences of which are Western societies, the leadership of Ukraine's allied countries, as well as citizens of our country.

This was announced by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCP) of the NSDC, Lieutenant Andriy Kovalenko.

The purpose of the campaign is to persuade Ukraine and its allies to make political decisions beneficial to the Russian Federation, which will allow it to obtain a military pause.

Stages of the fear propaganda campaign:

  • threats to strike Germany, discrediting Chancellor Olaf Scholz;

  • nuclear blackmail;

  • dissemination of information regarding the appeal of the so-called Transnistria and Gagauzia to Russia with help;

  • intimidation by the mass production of Shahed-136 UAVs, which can hit Ukraine and Europe;

  • spreading fakes about the attack on Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa;

  • the replication of messages about a missile attack on Odesa and the proximity of the epicenter of the explosion to the residence of the President of Ukraine and the Greek delegation.

  • assurance that Russia will be able to negotiate with the USA and take the territories of Ukraine.

Fear mongering is purely an information campaign designed to cover up the Russian military's inability to achieve strategic results on the battlefield, as they only have the resources for limited tactical operations. But Russia is trying to convince the whole world that they have enough resources for destabilization, so it is better to talk to them. However, this is an attempt to deceive everyone.

A new fake of the Russian Federation about the mobilization of students

To give credibility to their fakes, the enemy uses the statements of Ukrainian politicians regarding the need to optimize the system of higher education in the country.

In this way, enemy propagandists are trying to spread panic among Ukrainian youth and mistrust of the Ukrainian state.

In fact, there is no question of any mass closure of universities in Ukraine. The possibility of unification of separate educational institutions is being discussed, which does not involve either the expulsion of students or the dismissal of teachers, - says the message of the Central Committee of Education and Culture.

Also, the issue of canceling the postponement of the draft for students is not considered.

Trust only verified sources of information, - added the CPD.
