Russian President Putin has confirmed that he will run for the presidential elections 2024. He is going for the fifth term.
Putin will run for president
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has announced that he will run for a new presidential term in 2024.
On December 8, the Central Electoral Commission of the Russian Federation approved the dates of the presidential vote. For the first time in the Russian Federation, the presidential elections will be held over three days — from March 15 to 17.
By December 12, the Russians will decide on elections in the occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
If he wins the next election, Putin will be the president of the Russian Federation until 2030.
What is known about the elections in the Russian Federation
Earlier, Reuters reported that Vladimir Putin has decided to run in the March presidential elections, allowing him to remain in power until at least 2030.
Putin, who Boris Yeltsin handed over the presidency on the last day of 1999, has already served as president longer than any other Russian ruler since Joseph Stalin, surpassing even Leonid Brezhnev's 18-year rule. Putin turned 71 on October 7.
Five residents of Russia have already announced their intention to become candidates, including war criminal Ihor Girkin, who is being held in prison, former State Duma deputy from the Union of Right Forces Borys Nadezhdin and journalist Kateryna Duntsova. At the same time, their admission depends entirely on the Kremlin.
The Kremlin's press secretary, Dmitriy Peskov, said that Putin will be re-elected for the next term with more than 90% of the votes.
