The ex-head of the French right-wing populist "National Union", Marine Le Pen, who was often called "Putin's friend", unexpectedly criticized Russia harshly for launching an invasion of Ukraine.
Le Pen reveals her new point of view about the Russo-Ukrainian war
The French politician made a loud statement about this during a debate in the parliament.
Marine Le Pen drew attention to the fact that with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Russia "unleashed a war on the doorstep of the EU and the most dramatic geopolitical crisis in the last 20 years."
She also urged France and the international community not to forget the hundreds of thousands of victims of this war.
According to her, official Paris has done and continues to do much to support Ukraine and "shouldn't blush" about the earlier decisions.
Le Pen again attacked Macron with accusations
Despite her positive statements about Ukraine, the French politician once again criticised President Emmanuel Macron's statement that he doesn't rule out the potential presence of troops of Western allies on the territory of Ukraine in the future.
According to her, the French president started "instrumentalising" the war in Ukraine for his electoral goals.
Le Pen complained that she was called pro-Putin because of Macron's strict policy towards the Russian Federation.
