The Republican-controlled House of Representatives of the US Congress is expected to vote on Wednesday to formalize the impeachment proceedings against Democratic President Joe Biden.

The aide spoke anonymously because official plans for the vote are not final.

Earlier Monday, one Republican lawmaker said House Speaker Mike Johnson had revealed plans for Thursday's vote in a closed-door session, a time frame echoed by other Republicans.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to leave Washington on Thursday for a more than three-week end-of-year recess.

House Republicans accuse the Democratic president and his family of improperly profiting from policy decisions Biden was involved in as vice president during President Obama's 2009-2017 administration. They also accuse the Justice Department of improperly interference in the Biden investigation.

In addition, the US Department of Justice is accused of improperly interfering in the investigation of Biden's son, businessman Hunter Biden. The Ministry of Justice denies any wrongdoing.

What is known about Trump's attempts to pressure Republicans on the issue of Ukraine

Boyle noted that Trump and journalists and media under his control, such as Fox News's Tucker Carlson, are pressuring Republican Party representatives not to support President Joe Biden's request for further military aid to Ukraine.

The biggest challenge today is that former President Donald Trump and some right-wing media outlets in the US are pressuring Republicans in Congress to vote against funding Ukraine. This is the reason for the biggest delay, the Democratic Party’s congressman emphasized.

According to him, Tucker Carlson is the biggest favourite among all journalists controlled by Trump.

Recently, the ex-president of the USA said that he would even nominate him for the post of vice president.

The Democrat notes that this pressure is working on Republicans in Congress, as they are afraid of losing the next intra-party election due to the loud voices of the right who are openly agitating against Ukraine.
