Russia’s attack on Ukraine on New Year's Eve: the first details
Air defence forces of Ukraine managed to destroy 87 out of 90 drones launched by Russia into Ukraine. One civilian was killed in Odesa as a result of the Russian attack.
In addition, the Lviv region came under enemy attack, with the museum of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) commander Roman Shukhevych burning to the ground.
At night, debris from downed UAVs hit residential buildings in Odesa, causing fires.

According to the head of the Operational Command South (OC South) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Natalia Humeniuk, "more than six dozen flights of drones were recorded in the south, of which more than fifty were destroyed".

According to her, the massive attack by Russian drones began at 23:30. The Russians hit one of the port infrastructure facilities in Odesa. A fire broke out but was quickly extinguished. No people were injured.

Russia attacked Lviv region on New Year's Eve: Shukhevych museum burned down
On 1 January, Stepan Bandera's birthday, the Russian army completely destroyed the museum of UPA commander Roman Shukhevych in Bilohirsk.
This information was officially confirmed by the Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.
Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv regional military administration (RMA), said that the fire was caused by the wreckage of an enemy drone.
According to preliminary reports, no one was injured.
Later, Kozytskyi also added that the wreckage of the Shahed fell in Dubliany, near Lviv. The roof of a dormitory caught fire. Firefighters worked at the scene.
