Russia claims large-scale drone attack on Kursk and other regions

Russia said that on the night of March 9, its air defense forces allegedly shot down 47 drones over four regions. The aircraft construction enterprise in Taganrog could be damaged by the attack.

Drone attack on Russia on March 9

The Ministry of Defense of Russia states that air defense forces shot down drones over the following areas:

  • 41 drones over the Rostov region,

  • 1 — above Belgorod region,

  • 2 — over Kursk region,

  • 3 — above Volgograd region.

One of the Russian Telegram channels writes that the drone attack on Taganrog in the Rostov region lasted an hour or an hour and a half. The Taganrog aviation scientific and technical complex named after Beriev could be affected.

According to another channel, a fire broke out in Taganrog due to the fall of the debris of the drone, which was extinguished. The other two drones were found on the territory of the metallurgical plant.

Vasyl Golubev, head of the Rostov region, said that an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Affairs was injured as a result of the massive attack by the BpLA, and he is in the hospital.

At the same time, the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, says that in Kursk, fragments of a downed drone fell on the roof of a polyclinic. No one was injured, but patients from the intensive care unit of a nearby building were evacuated to other medical facilities.

Drone attacks on Russia

On March 8, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that as a result of an attack by kamikaze drones in the area of the village of Rozhdestvenka, two people were allegedly killed, and a third person was seriously injured. There is damage in the area.

On March 7, an explosion occurred in Cherepovka, Vologda region of the Russian Federation, near the Severstal metallurgical plant. The Russians claim that the cause was allegedly a drone attack.

On the same day, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the alleged interception and downing of 5 drones, namely:

  • one drone was intercepted over the Kursk region,

  • three UAVs were destroyed over the Bryansk region,

  • two drones were shot down over the Tula region.
