The Russian Federation has threatened that it will be the first to attack Finland in case of escalation of tensions between Moscow and NATO.

The permanent representative of Russia to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, was the first to issue such public threats.
According to him, Finland, which did not renounce its neutral status for many years, became an "enemy player" after joining the Alliance.
They lived calmly and peacefully and suddenly found themselves between Russia and NATO as a member of this alliance, but since they are our neighbors, if, God forbid, any escalation happens, they will be the first to suffer, the Russian diplomat said.
It is also worth noting that earlier official Moscow tried to intimidate Finland through its new defense agreement with the United States, which gives American forces broad access to Finland's border with Russia.
Moreover, it became known that the Russian Federation intends to deploy its latest howitzers in the Northern Military District, which borders Finland and Norway.
According to preliminary data, they will be there until the end of 2023.
I think that they will appear there (in the Northern Military District) in the near future, as howitzers of this class are needed to ensure superiority over Western artillery models in terms of firing range, the CEO of "Rostec" Sergey Chemezov recently stated.
Putin also threatens Finland
Back on December 17, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin publicly threatened Finland that because of joining NATO, it "will now have problems."
The leader continues to lie about Finland being allegedly forced into the bloc.
