In the last two days, objects representing more than 10% of oil refining capacities were damaged in the Russian Federation.

Attacks on oil refineries affected over 10% of Russia's capacity

The Ryazan refinery, located 200 kilometres from Moscow, was struck at a capacity that gives Russia 17.1 million tonnes yearly, or about 340,000 barrels daily.

The Ryazan Oil Refinery is the leading motor fuel supplier for Russia's capital regions.

The refinery became the second victim of the strikes, which over the past two days have damaged facilities that make up more than 10% of Russia's oil refining capacity.

Drone attack in Russia on March 12

On the night of March 12, seven Russian regions: Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh, Oryol, Moskva, Tula and Nizhny Novgorod — reported a drone attack.

In Kstovo of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a drone hit the Lukoil oil depot, which caused a fire. The company reported that the work of the technological plant for oil processing was stopped due to the incident.

The attacked oil refinery near Nizhny Novgorod, 800 km from Ukraine, produced 15 million tons annually.

In Oryol, as a result of the attack, a fire started at an oil depot, and oil products leaked.

It also became known that the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) organised an attack by UAVs on an oil refinery in the city of Kstovo in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The insiders of the publication's journalists note that Ukrainian military intelligence is behind the attack on the refinery.

It is noted that the Nizhny Novgorod Refinery is one of the largest in Russia. The distance from the plant to the nearest point of the Ukrainian border is about 800 km.
