Russia says a large railway bridge exploded in the Samara region

In the Samara region of Russia, on Mar. 4, unknown persons blew up the supports of a railway bridge.

What is known about the railway bridge undermining in Russia?

Russian Telegram channels reported unknown persons blew up the bridge's support over the Chapaevka River on the Zvezda-Chapaevsk route.

According to one of the Telegram channels, the explosion was heard around 6:15 a.m. local time.

The movement of trains on the bridge is suspended. Four trains are currently delayed. The "Zagorsk" plan has been announced in the region. Special services are working on the spot.

The metal structure of the bridge was damaged, as well as the fence. At the same time, the concrete support is not previously damaged.

What is known about sabotage on railways in Russia

The number of sabotages in Russia has increased and was reported as early as last May 2023. Moreover, the most common of them were relay cabinets on railways.

Since 2023, according to data for May of the previous year, 36 such cases have already been known.

According to data at the end of October of the same year, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Russian invaders even strengthened the protection of railway trains. The reason for this was constant sabotage at railway facilities.

On the night of Nov. 30, 2023, an explosion occurred on the Baikal-Amur highway in Buryatia. It was a successful operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), which paralyzed the only serious way of railway communication between the Russian Federation and China.
