Russia spreads fake news about Ukraine's First Lady Foundation's alleged involvement in child trafficking

Zelenska

The Kremlin promotes fake narratives in Africa about the foundation of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.

How Russia discretises Olena Zelenska's Foundation?

The Centre for Countering Disinformation (CCD) notes that in November 2023, a video appeared on Robert Schmidt's YouTube channel in which an unknown person called himself the driver of the Olena Zelenska Foundation and claimed in French that the First Lady of Ukraine's foundation is involved in child trafficking and "sexual violence" against them.

On the same day, the Senegalese publication SENE NEWS published an article with a link to this video. The author of the publication is a someone as Dado Ba, whose identity cannot be verified.

Later, the article was spread by a network of fake publications. In each such material, a new author was indicated - all of them turned out to be fake personalities, and their photos were taken from stock sites, the CCD explains.

For example, the fake media site DC Weekly used a photo of writer Judith Batalion for the profile of an author named Jessica Devlin. This fake article was actively distributed by Russian propaganda Telegram channels with the aim of discrediting Olena Zelenska and her foundation.

Russia continues the active phase of the "Perun" PsyOP against Ukraine

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) notes that Russia is also trying to destabilize the political situation in the West and "create conditions for solving the tasks" of the so-called "SMO".

Kremlin propagandists give instructions to spies to carry out measures:

  • to discredit Ukrainian and Western pro-Ukrainian politicians, accusing them of corruption and betrayal of Ukraine's interests;

  • justifying the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and highlighting the situation around the Ukrainian state from positions favorable to the Kremlin;

  • the spread of misinformation in the media about the supposed "normalization of life" in the Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia with the direct participation of the Russian leadership;

  • formation of the image of "Ukrainian Nazis" in the Russian and European media space, etc.

The DIU added that the peak of the activation of propaganda activities is on March 17, when the so-called presidential elections will be held in the Russian Federation.

The occupiers plan to complete the "Perun" operation by June 30 of this year.
