Russian drone attack on Sumy: seven injured, including one child

On the night of Mar. 6, Russian troops attacked Sumy with attack drones. Seven people were injured, including a child.

Consequences of the attack on Sumy

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that as a result of the Russian drone attack on Sumy, seven people were injured, including a 10-year-old boy.

According to the investigation, on Mar. 6, 2024, around 1:00 a.m., the enemy attacked civilian objects in the city of Sumy with three unmanned aerial vehicles.

The occupiers' attack damaged accommodation in 11 apartment buildings and the building of a preschool educational institution. About 20 cars were also damaged.

The law enforcement officers started a pre-trial investigation into violating the laws and customs of war (Chapter 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the same time, the head of the Sumy regional military administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, announced on Radio Svoboda that five people were wounded. Mostly, they received minor injuries.

One Shahed was shot down on the approach to the city, three entered the airspace over the city of Sumy and were hit. Thank God for our air defence forces, who changed their course and these "Shaheds" hit almost all neighborhoods and we have no casualties. But the infrastructure suffered a lot.

Artyukh said that one "Shahed" targeted the hospital, where about 400 patients were staying.

March 6 drone attack: what is known

Overnight on March 6, the Russian military launched 42 "Shaheds" and five S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles over Ukraine.

Air defence forces destroyed 38 enemy drones.

The drones were shot down within the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Sumy regions.

The attack damaged an infrastructure object in the Khmelnytskyi region, and power was cut off in several settlements. There were no casualties.
