Russia's attack on Kyiv: Number of victims increases

In the capital, 20 people have already been reported dead as a result of Russian missile attacks. 17 people were rescued, and another 117 residents were evacuated from their homes.

Number of wounded following Russian attack has increased in Kyiv

According to the Mayor Vitali Klitschko, rescuers have unblocked 17 people in a house in Solomianskyi district.

In addition, 117 residents were evacuated from the building. So far, 20 people have been injured, 19 of whom have been hospitalised.

What is known about attack on Ukraine on January 2

On the night of 2 January, Russia launched several dozen attack drones and missiles over Ukraine.

An air alert was declared in Kyiv and a number of southern and central regions, and air defence forces were deployed. Later, explosions were heard in the capital.

A supermarket in the Desnianskyi district burned down as a result of rocket fire. Non-residential buildings were damaged in the Darnytskyi district.

In the Holosiivskyi district, missile fragments fell in a park. In the Pechersk the district, debris fell on the roof of a 9-storey residential building, another multi-storey building and a private house.

In the Obolonskyi district, a residential building is also on fire, and some of the debris fell on non-residential buildings and warehouses. In the Svyatoshynsk area, a social infrastructure building was damaged.

In the Shevchenkiv district, the debris fell on the street.

There were also several hits to residential areasthe in the centre of Kharkiv. A fire broke out there. Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the regional military administration, reported 41 injured. 16 of them were hospitalised.
