Air Forces announced the results of the night air defence operation

According to the military, the enemy launched a total of 46 Shaheds, which attacked in waves at different times, from 19:00 on 26 December to 03:50 on 27 December.

On the night of 27 December 2023, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine using Shahed UAVs from two locations: Balaklava in the occupied Crimea and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in the Russian Krasnodar Krai region, the statement said.

The Air Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) destroyed 32 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Air Forces noted that most of the drones that failed to be shot down attacked frontline areas, including the Kherson region.

Several other UAVs went down without causing any damage or casualties, the military said.

In general, the air defence of the AFU operated in Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi and Kirovohrad regions.

What is known about the night attack of Russia

On the evening of 26 December and on the night of 27 December, Russian occupiers conducted air strikes on the territory of Ukraine using Shaheds. For example, the enemy struck Kherson and launched kamikaze drones in the direction of Starokostyantyniv and Odesa.

That night, explosions were heard in Odesa, and the Defence Forces of the Southern Region of Ukraine announced a defend operation.

In Odesa, the air defence shot down a drone in mid-air, after which it crashed into a house in the suburbs of the port city. One person was killed and three others were injured. In total, 12 drones were shot down in the region.

Later in the night, the Air Forces command was informed that the movement of Shahed groups had been observed in many areas, mainly on the left-bank of the country. Residents of the regions were urged to stay in shelters after the air raid alert was issued.

Earlier it was reported that the Russians also attacked Ukraine with Shahed attack drones. The invaders launched 19 drones, after which 13 Shaheds were destroyed by the air defence forces of the AFU in Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytskyi regions.
