The commander of the "Russian Volunteer Corps" Denys Nikitin explained why he created a unit of Russian volunteers for the war on the side of Ukraine at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. See more of the online.ua documentary film "Pale Moth — the End" about RDK.

The beginning of the creation of the RVC

Nikitin, talking about the formation history of the RVC, says that nobody needed the Russian Volunteer Corps.

And in general, any formation of, let's say, Russian guys, citizens of the Russian Federation, when the war started, seemed absolutely insane. It cost me a lot to get an opportunity to fight legally for Ukraine. Because someone was afraid or didn't want to take responsibility, and others spread their hands and nodded understandingly.

Eventually, Nikitin managed to break through this concrete wall, because the issue of legalization was the most acute for the Russian volunteers at the very beginning.

Because the war started, everything Russian caused rejection and a desire to immediately grab a machine gun and pull the trigger. It was clear to me that this is what I had to do.

The commander of the RVC believes that the most important war that is being waged, which must be won, is the war of meanings.

Not a war of weapons, not a war of technology, but a war of meanings. It was obvious to me that it was necessary to create a unit that would deal with propaganda and try to reach the citizens of Russia at least. To reach those who are still undecided, those who do not understand where there is evil, where there is good, where there is light, where there is darkness.
