Because of long-range Taurus missiles, which Germany can provide to Ukraine, Germany can expect a war with Russia, says the German chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Scholz again refuses to supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again opposed the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine. In his opinion, this could involve his country in a war with Russia.
The RND publication cites his words.
He explained that Taurus missiles are long-range weapons and "what the British and French are doing in terms of target control cannot be done in Germany."
Scholz said he was "annoyed by the lack of balance between what is needed now and the discussion about Taurus."
What Ukraine lacks is ammunition for all possible lengths and distances, but not primarily from Germany.
Taurus missiles for Ukraine
Ukraine has long been asking Germany to start supplying long-range Taurus missiles, which are capable of destroying targets at a distance of up to 500 km.
However, the German government refuses to transfer such weapons. According to the media, Chancellor Olaf Scholz himself is against it.
He is worried that the Armed Forces may use German missiles to attack Russian territory, which "will make Germany a party to the conflict."
On February 19, the German mass media reported that the ruling coalition in the Bundestag is preparing an appeal to the government to transfer long-range missiles to Ukraine. But Taurus was not explicitly mentioned in the document.
On February 22, the Bundestag supported a draft resolution with a recommendation for the German government to start supplying long-range Taurus missiles to Kyiv.
