German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he clearly and concretely confirms his disagreement with the possibility of transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

Scholz confirmed again that he will not provide Taurus to Ukraine

Ukrinform agency reports that Olaf Scholz said this during a joint press conference with his Malaysian colleague Anwar Ibrahim in Berlin.

He was asked if he was considering exchanging missiles with Britain instead of direct supplies to Ukraine.

I made myself clear. My job as chancellor and head of government is to be precise and not create false expectations. My answers are clear enough.

Chancellor of Germany

Regarding one weapon system, given its effectiveness and method of application, I believe that it cannot be used without control, but the participation of the German military is not justified, even from outside the borders of Ukraine, he added.

Therefore, according to the chancellor, his precise position on this issue is "the use of these missiles."

He repeated that Germany is the country that supports Ukraine the most — financially, as well as by supplying weapons.

In total, preliminary and promised deliveries amount to 28 billion euros or 30 billion dollars. This is a significant amount. We mobilized everything so that Ukraine received the necessary support from us — ammunition, artillery, tanks, air defense of various types, — said the chancellor.

It is worth noting that Scholz very rarely mentions the name of the rocket — Taurus. This time he never uttered the word again.

UK offered Scholz to exchange Taurus missiles for British Storm Shadow missiles

On March 9, the UK Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, said in an interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung that he offered Germany to exchange Taurus missiles for British Storm Shadow missiles to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons.

Germany could supply Taurus to Britain, and the British government would provide Ukraine with additional Storm Shadow missiles in return.

Cameron rejected the idea that the supply of cruise missiles could escalate the war.

It is possible to impose restrictions on the use of these weapons to ensure that they do not contribute to escalation in any way, the minister said.
